Privacy Policy

Who we are

1% Academy is an online revision platform for students studying the Victorian curriculum. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address and login information when you create an account.
  • Subscription details: your plan, billing period and subscription status. Card payments are processed by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number.
  • Partner referral: if you arrive through a tutoring partner's link, we store that partner's code in your browser for up to 60 days so they can be credited if you subscribe.
  • What you share: resources you upload to the community area and messages you send through our contact or partner forms.
  • Basic usage information, such as which pages and subjects you use, so we can keep the site working and improve it.

How we use it

  • To run your account and give you access to the resources you've paid for.
  • To process payments, receipts and cancellations through Stripe.
  • To credit tutoring partners for students they refer. Partners see aggregate numbers such as active subscriptions — not your study activity.
  • To reply to your messages and send important account or billing emails.
  • To fix problems and improve the platform.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.

Students under 18

Many of our users are school students. If you're under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian knows you're using 1% Academy and agrees before you subscribe. Subscriptions for students under 18 should be purchased by a parent or guardian.

Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers to run the platform — for example our hosting and app platform, Stripe for payments, and AI services that help generate practice material. They only get the information they need to provide their service. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

Some of these providers store data outside Australia.

Keeping it safe

We use reasonable security measures to protect your information, and we keep it only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law.

Your choices

You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete your account. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your dashboard.

If you have a privacy question or complaint, contact us through our contact page and we'll respond as soon as we can. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
